Op Art Brickwork in Bevo, Dutchtown

Does anyone know what type of brick/brickwork this is? I call it "Op Art" because, up close, it almost disorients the eye with its stylistic patterns.

Bevo, at Neosho and Morgan Ford:

And then one of my favorite little houses in the city, on Kingsland Court at Hydraulic in Dutchtown West:

The home above, in particular, is a must-see. What are these eye-popping bricks? Are they just cleverly arranged buff-colored brick?

That house on Hydraulic is amazing. I recently drove past it and was almost even more impressed by the matching garage in back.

Also, for a closer look at a similar pattern, here is the Hutcheson Arms Building on Grand and Russell.

On the larger building, there appear to be alternating bands of two different bonds on the body of the structure. The house is clearly just two different shades layed on the ends, the bit above the window looks like a "chain" bond, no? Love this town.
