Well, I snapped a photograph of one of the bricks. It dawns on me now, of course, that this might simply be a legitimate brickmaker and not evidence of pirated bricks after all. But, a promise is a promise, so here's the offending (?) brick:

That's a salvaged fire brick. Fire bricks typically line furnaces, ovens, smokestacks and chimneys. Weird to see it used in paving, but I guess someone liked the maker's stamp.
ReplyDeleteI found a brick like this in a strange place, out in the woods near a state park. I brought it home with me as it seemed to be made of red granite. I was near Elephant Rocks State Park and couldn't comprehend why anyone would carve such lettering into a piece of granite.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to look at it again. Perhaps it is fire brick from an industrial furnace connected with the mining operations.
